I was recently sent a link to an article that Brian from Fulcrum is quoted in:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/technology/technology.html?in_article_id=440313&in_page_id=1965
Not a bad article considering the paper it’s comes from! The best bit though is the comments section where you or I or anyone for that matter can leave your pearls of wisdom. From the 22 comments I am particularly struck by the following ones:
·        birds get killed when they are ’sucked into’ domestic turbines
·        we should ALL use overnight cheap-rate electricity because it makes more the power stations more efficient
·        wind turbines (large scale wind farms) don’t work in wind speeds above ‘fresh’
·        Living at 650ft with clear south-westerly’s but hasn’t installed a turbine because they can’t find one that ‘complements the domestic architecture’
·        ’small sail - small power, big sail - big power’ it’s about size not wind speed
·        nuclear is cheap clean and won’t mess up the environment (response - immensely toxic waste which has a half-life of thousands of years)
·        wire all the exercise bikes, rowing machines etc. in health clubs to the national grid
but the best is saved for last:
·        This man Cameron is a complete and total dork.
Now I pose the question, do I a) be please that the online readership of the Daily Mail are discussing such issues, or b) scream at the simplistic understanding of these people?
